amopage debut

February 8, 2007

Created a blog today.

December 20, 2007

Began to move and remove content from the old web site.

July 28, 2008

I finally have work up for sale at redbubble and am finally comfortable inserting my new home page and doing what will be the last major overhaul of the site for a while. A few images that were previously available for viewing may disappear completely, but the majority should find their way over to redbubble sooner or later.

Looks like the gallery will be functional soon, today or tomorrow, Lord willing.

about the site

the graphics

The logo was inspired by medieval illuminated manuscripts, but when I started trying to create a logo, the results looked too "new". I wanted it to look aged, so I tried to make it look less well preserved than most of the illuminations you'll find at The Bodleian Library, University of Oxford.

technical stuff

In order to learn HTML and CSS (to the extent that I did!), I went through two tutorials and then went to the "Google school of HTML and CSS." Essentially, every time I wanted to know how to do something new, I went to Google and entered HTML or CSS (or both) and whatever I wanted to do and looked at the links until I had an answer to my question.
